Your Own Web Pages -- Instructions

As an Advantage Member of BreedersClub.net, you may create up to twenty-five (25) of your own web pages at no additional cost to you. When done properly, you may expect quality, professional results. Many templates are provided for you which can help speed along your page creation.

Duration of Your Pages

Your annual renewal with BreedersClub.net will keep your web pages active one year at a time. Your web pages will remain active for one year from the date of your BreedersClub.net membership. There are no monthly hosting fees, maintenance or service fees in connection with your free web pages.

Your Web Address - VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION

When you first sign into this module, you will be allowed ten (10) days for a trial run. During that time you can create your site and make any modifications you wish. However, in order for it to be published on the web and let others see it, you must contact us so that we can take care of some administrative tasks. So, when you are ready to publish it, call Dean at 541-997-0131.

Note, your new free hosted website address will be http://sites.breedersclub.net/username. The user name will be determined when you are ready to publish the site and will be entered into the system by the site administrator after consultation with you.

VERY IMPORTANT -- as you will want to upload pictures into your website, you should do the following:

1.  Create thumbnail size images for each of the images you wish show in your site (160 px wide x 120 px tall - gif, png or RGB jpg). Also Important - for Photo Album pages, dimensions are critical. If you are using images taller than wide (portrait images) you will need to increase the wide dimensions using a wider canvas for the image. Use your image editing software to increase the size of the canvas wide (centering the image in it) to avoid distorted images on your album pages.

2.  Create large size versions of the same images (480 px wide x 360 px tall - gif, png or RGB jpg). Also Important - for Photo Album pages, dimensions are critical. If you are using images taller than wide (portrait images) you will need to increase the wide dimensions using a wider canvas for the image. Use your image editing software to increase the size of the canvas wide (centering the image in it) to avoid distorted images on your album pages.

3.  It is recommended, but not a requirement, that you watermark your pictures prior to uploading them into the gallery editor.  This helps prevent dishonest people from copying your photos and using them as if they were their own.

If you wish to obtain a private domain name (web address name), you may do so by contacting any of several domain name companies. However, there are several things you should know prior to obtaining your own domain name.

1. There are important advantages to having your own domain name.

• Your web address can be much shorter. Using the example above, sites.breedersclub.net/username could be shortened to simply www.yourdomain.com. Shorter names are much easier for people to remember.
• You establish your own separate identity, away from the group of possible competitors.
• You can have your own email address with your domain name, i.e., yourname@yourdomain.com, again using the name above as an example.

2. When you have a private domain name you will be charged a monthly service fee by the service provider to have such a name pointed to your website. BreedersClub.net charges a very reasonable $75.00* per year. There is a one-time set-up fee of $30.00.

2. A private domain name requires an investment. Many companies who register these names charge $35.00 per year. BreedersClub.net has made special arrangements with BoomersDomain.com so that you may register your domain name for only $19.00* per year.
