| Korean Mastiff Information |
Overview: The Korean Mastiff is a large dog that likes to lay around and doze off. It doesn't mind exercise, but would rather not have to move all that much. It should be fine around small pets and even children. It doesn't mind strangers around and should be well tempered. Because of its size it requires ample space to stretch and rest. Temperament: This is a noble, smart and devoted breed that is pretty easy going and good natured. It is social and enjoys being around other people. It will need a strong leader who can show this animal its boundaries, but otherwise it will be well tempered indoors and outside. It gets along fine with other pets and dogs as long as it isn't being dominated by others. History: There is little verified history as to when, why, or how the Korean Mastiff was created. However, some believe it to be a blend of several European and Asian breeds during the 19th century. These include the Japanese Tosa-Inu, Neapolitan Mastiff and French Mastiff. More recently, the Bloodhound and English Mastiff breed have been included in the mix. Names: The Korean Mastiff is also known as the Korean Dosa Mastiff, Dosa Gae , or the Mee Kyun Dosa. Physical Characteristics: The average adult Korean Mastiff can be 23.5 to 30 inches, and should weigh between 145 and 185 lb. It is seen as a massive dog breed covered in a short coat and plenty of wrinkles. This breed is the heaviest of the Korean canines. Care: Often quite lazy and without much of a passion for exercise, the Korean Mastiff should still be taken out for daily walks to keep in shape. It doesn't have to be a long or grueling walk, but a fair distance should be good for the Korean Mastiff. It can adapt to most living conditions, but should have access to the indoors and a yard. It should be brushed weekly to remove any dirt and loose hair from the coat. The wrinkles in the skin should be cleaned with a damp cloth at least once a week to prevent infection. |
